Vidyashree hails from a remote village in backward North Karnataka district. Her family struggled to make ends meet, putting her at the risk of being dropped out of school early. Identified as an ideal candidate for rehabilitation and education support by the Women and Child Development Department, Vidyashree was referred to Planet Mars Foundation in 2018.


At Planet Mars Foundation, she was admitted as one of the 30 girl children chosen from economically deprived backgrounds to receive long-term shelter, education and all-round support. We not only admitted her to a formal school in Kallianpur, we also identified her gaps in academics and provided additional support through our in-house tutor to help her cope with her school curriculum. Since then, she has made immense progress in academics, topping her school in 7th standard with 97.6%.

This year, Vidyashree was felicitated by the Alumni Association her school, Hindu Higher Primary School, for scoring the highest marks in 7th Std. in 2018. A bright and ambitious girl, Vidyashree dreams of becoming an IAS Officer some day!
